The Sky Valley Community Center is in transition from the non-profit corporation called Sky Valley Chamber and Community Center under IRS rule 501(c) to a a non-profit public benefit corporation named Sky Valley Community Center under IRS rule 501(c)(3). Though the entity’s name has changed it’s purpose is still to serve the civil and social welfare of the people of Sky Valley. In its new status it will be able to accept tax-deductible donations.
Sky Valley is a 42 square mile rural unincorporated area in Riverside County 10 miles east of Desert Hot Springs nestled up against the southern edge of Joshua National park. Originally organized in 1953 as the Sky Valley Chamber of Commerce to help Sky Valley obtain electricity, water, telephones, and the Riverside County Fire Station Number 56; the entity was later renamed the Sky Valley Chamber and Community Center to express a less commercial tone. Under every name, the Sky Valley Community Center has been and remains a non-partisan, non-sectarian, and does not endorse or lend any special support to any candidate or appointee for public office.
